Adding a Tip to a Gift Card Payment — Loopz Gift Cards (2023)

Customers can leave a tip when redeeming a gift card to pay for an order. The tip amount is limited to the available balance remaining on the gift card. If a tip amount is selected that is larger than the available balance of the gift card, the tip amount is set to the remaining balance of the gift card.

Adding a tip when redeeming a gift card

Once a gift card is retrieved in the redeem screen, the Add Tip button will be enabled. When the button is tapped, the tip screen will be shown to the customer. When the customer has selected a tip amount, the tip is shown as applied to the gift card payment. Once the gift card is redeemed, the tip amount is shown in the order totals in the Clover Register / Sale / Dining app.

Paying out tips to employees

Tips adding to a gift card payment are not shown in the Clover Tips app. Only credit card payment tips are shown in the Clover Tips app. Instead, you should use the Clover Shifts app or another shifts app from the Clover app market to determine what tip amounts are owed to employees.
